China Telecom partners with Bridge Alliance for IoT

Project will see Chinese operator partner with Bridge Alliance, which is comprised of 34 major mobile operators, to deploy IoT and M2M solutions

China Telecom has struck an internet of things partnership with Bridge Alliance which will see the Chinese operator offer IoT services to multinational enterprises across the latter company’s footprint.

Bridge Alliance is comprised of 34 major mobile operators serving more than 800 million customers in Asia, Australia, Africa and the Middle East. It allow member operators to extend their reach and scale in areas such as M2M/IoT, enterprise mobility, roaming and optimisation.

The non-exclusive partnership will leverage Bridge Alliance’s technical and commercial capabilities to offer solutions across its footprint enabling China Telecom’s customers to offer a wider approach.

“China Telecom has a strong portfolio of multinational enterprise customers who are looking to deploy their products and services across the Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa regions,” said Deng Xiao Feng, MD of global business department of China Telecom. “Bridge Alliance is the ideal partner to fulfil such requirements. Likewise, China Telecom is also ready to support any inbound opportunities from the member operators into China. 

“With the supporting common platform and the business opportunities across these different regions, we are confident this partnership will be a mutually beneficial and win-win business collaboration.”

The deal will also allow Bridge Alliance members to extend their IoT and M2M services to China through China Telecom’s connectivity platform. 

It comes at a time of significant growth in the sector in Asia-Pacific. Analyst estimates claim the region, excluding Japan, will be the leader in IoT investment with spend set to reach $455 billion by 2021.
