Acquisition means Magyar Telekom-subsidiary now owns property which houses its largest data centre

T-Systems Hungary has acquired ServerInfo-Ingatlan Ltd from WING Group in a deal worth €14.4 million (£12.83 million).

The Magyar Telekom subsidiary will take control of the property which holds its highly secure data centre, the largest in Central Europe.

According to reports from Portfolio, MTel spends “several hundreds of millions of forints” on renting the property – the equivalent of hundreds of thousands of pounds.

The transaction is expected to be closed by the end of the year but is subject to Competition Authority approval.

It will not bring an end to WING’s partnership with Magyar, however, as the Hungarian real estate firm has been contracted to build the Hungarian operator’s new 55,000 square-meter headquarters, which it expects to move in to in 2018.
