Bharti Airtel chairman reappointed for 5 years

Bharti Airtel chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal has been reappointed as chairman for another five years, effective October 1, 2016

He will now take home a higher annual pay package, which is fixed at Rs 21 crore per annum and performance-linked variable pay of Rs 9 crore. It excludes perquisites that shall not exceed 50% of the fixed pay.

"Sunil Bharti Mittal has been reappointed as the chairman of the company for further term of five years with effect from October 1, 2016," the company said in a BSE filing.

Mittal is the founder and chairman of Bharti Airtel, Bharti Enterprises and his net worth is $6.7 billion, according to Forbes.

Earlier this year, Mittal, who has served on the Prime Minister of India’s Council on Trade and Industry was named ICC Chairman.
